Sick and Still Smiling

You wouldn't know it from this picture I snapped a few minutes ago, but Claire, for the first time at almost 10 months old, is sick with a fever and lower bronchial congestion. She seemed a little congested Friday morning, and by last night she had a fever and was breathing raspily with a hoarse voice. Being first time parents and living 35 minutes from the hospital, this made us a little nervous. So we consulted various books and WebMD, almost called our veteran parent siblings, and finally decided she wasn't sick enough for a trip to the ER. We didn't get much sleep last night as we had her in bed with us and the vaporizer going. Nate and I traded shifts sleeping in the guest bed so we each got a few hours, of sleep and Claire has been sleeping off and on all morning (in the sling as we speak). It's hard to watch your child be ill and not be able to do much about it except hold her and let the illness run its course. Poor thing and she's being such a trooper about it too!
